Storm valves are self-closing valves, typically used for discharge of sanitary pipe lines, grey water and septic tanks. Storm valves are normally placed shipside. Important for a shipside application is a non-return function, allowing the media to be discharged but at the same time preventing seawater from entering the system. Our storm valves have a well-balanced disc, which means that even in heavy seas the valve will remain in closed position. A valve placed shipside is normally ordered and delivered with a class inspection certificate. The body material of the storm valve is usually ductile iron (GGG40), cast steel (WCB) or bronze (RG5) and the valve is available in straight or angled configurations. For an angled storm valve the outlet flange is always two sizes larger than the inlet flange. The storm valve is soft sealed and always possible to close manually.
